Jeffery Testerman and the staff really care about the people they are trying to help. Have no hesitation trusting your loved ones to them.
It has been over a year since my unfortunate contact with this organization - and maybe things have changed "back"- but my experience can best be summarized as a "bait & switch". Relying on literature that I had previously obtained from the National Cremation Society website, I attended a luncheon sponsored by this particular affiliate with the specific intent to arrange a prepaid no frills direct cremation "service" as outlined in the information I had received. I was very surprised at the luncheon, however, to hear the representative focusing on a package deal, which included services/items (an online obituary, commemorative materials, and some type on non-local transport package) I didn't want, the cost of which exceeded my planned expenses for a simple cremation by $1000- $1500. Although the rep seemed to imply that this package was the minimum one could get, I didn't become overly concerned about the presentation (which the other attendees seemed seemed to be "buying into"), figuring I would be able to clarify my interests/needs in the "individualized" follow-up meeting I was to have with him. (All attendees were asked to commit to such sessions prior to leaving the luncheon.) I did note, however, in written feedback I was asked to complete at the luncheon my concerns about the discrepancies between what he had presented, and the options I thought were available based on my prior reading of their materials. Unfortunately, as I learned later that day during my individual session, the company, having been bought out by another company, no longer offered a simple, direct cremation option. With the exception of the non-local transport service, which I could opt out of, the package presented at lunch was a "take it or leave it" deal. I left it. So much for the "customized planning flexibilities" touted on the website.
I have only good things to say about Jeffrey Testerman and the National Cremation and Burial Society. My mother, who passed away recently, had prepaid cremation 18 years before. Jeffrey made everything easy, did everything he said he would do, followed up on issues that arose afterward and never made me feel like he was trying to sell me anything more. He was kind, compassionate, informative and efficient. I highly recommend both Mr. Testerman and the National Cremation and Burial Society.
